Conversion Utilities

GUI2Wav

Download version 1.1
Converts Mac SD2 files into Wav files. Version 1.1 now available which fixes an old bug which would cause the program to give 'error 76' even after a reinstall. It also adds 88.2 and 96K as bit rates.

This one has been very popular over the years since I first wrote it. Both Digidesign and Steinberg have recommended this program to their customers.

sd2wav.exe

2stereo.exe

A couple of command line utilities. The first converts Mac SD2 into Wav and is included in GUI2Wav above. The second takes two mono Wav files and creates a stereo Wav file.

Ambisonic Software

VVMic

Download version 2.5
A standalone Windows program that derives up to 32 virtual microphone signals from 1st order b-format files. Accepts almost any variation of one, two, or four Wav files in 16, 24, or 32 bit and any bitrate. It will output one multichannel or up to 32 mono files. It will also play in real-time while you adjust the microphone settings. Can also be run in batch files using command line parameters and XML settings files.

VVMicVST

Download version 1.0b1

The VST plug-in version of VVMic. Takes four channels in and outputs eight virtual microphone signals. The VST version also offers what I call VU Mode, which scales each microphenes polar plot according to the volume of that output.

Currently available for Windows. Mac OSX very soon and hopefully classic as well.

Audio Files

B-format files

Several examples of b-format recordings made with a variety of techniques. There's a song mixed with my ProTools Transcoder, several recordings made with three cardiods and some other mic combinations, some mixes made using various ambisonic VST plug-ins, and finally some test files made from mono in CoolEdit. All 1st order for now.

Radio Kerplunk

Tim Deagan and I call ourselves Radio Kerplunk when we play music for kids. The names comes from our intent to produces children's radio theater, but so far we mostly play friends birthday parties. Our set consists of originals plus standards like Tim's amazing redention of Good Ship Lollipop.
